We all want to lose weight, but before setting ours goals for
weight loss we need to consider what kind of weight loss are we
targeting at? Are we just being guided by a mere tool in our
bathrooms [the weighing scale] to rule our life? Is weight the
only parameter to evaluate our levels of fitness?
Definitely not! If your weight loss dose not accompany along
with increased level of stamina, toned body, glowing skin and
lustrous hair then you surely need to re evaluate your diet plan.
Fat stored in our body has more volume in comparison to weight
so if you are losing weight along with inches especially on your
abdomen then cheers!! You are on the right track.
It is very important to reduce fat of our body rather than just
losing our muscle or lean mass.
Ideally one can lose 1.5 to 2 kgs in a month with a healthy diet
plan.
Though
some people who have a high BMR level, can even lose upto 4
kgs in a month. Regular exercise, along with a healthy diet plan
is the best solution as it leads to gradual weight loss and our body
does not experience any negative health effects.
Drastic starvation and fad diets show excellent results on the
weight scale but sadly such diets make you lose your lean muscle
mass. Muscles are the tissues which burn maximum calories(even
when our body is at rest) and help to keep our BMR levels
elevated. So if you lose your muscle mass you are actually going
to the stuck on a vicious circle of low BMR and in future weight
loss will be even more difficult.
The worst part of lean muscle loss is saggy and loose skin
specially around the under arms, thighs and stomach.
Over a long period of time such fad diets can even lead to
wrinkles.
In short
drastic
weight lose can –
lower BMR
lose saggy skin
gall bladder stones
wrinkles
liver damage
weight gain in future
reduced stamina
Nutritional deficiencies
Insomnia
Dehydration
Depression
Disturbed bowl syndrome (constipation or lose motions)
So plan long term goals! Follow a diet which you can easily
follow for life. Work on fitness rather fatness. Be patient! Be
healthy!
